This lot is 4 units of Planet's Smart Media Converter, from the FST-80x series, providing media conversion between 10/100BASE-TX copper Ethernet and 100BASE-FX fiber optic interfaces. Built for extending network links over fiber, the FST-80x series supports multiple fiber connector and distance options, letting network installers bridge copper Ethernet segments to fiber runs for building-to-building or long-distance connections without replacing existing network hardware.

  • Copper-to-fiber conversion: Bridges 10/100BASE-TX (RJ45) to 100BASE-FX fiber optic connections, extending links over multi-mode or single-mode fiber depending on the specific model variant.
  • Smart DIP-switch configuration: Onboard DIP switches allow manual configuration of duplex mode (half/full), auto-negotiation or forced speed, and 10/100Mbps settings for both TP and fiber interfaces.
  • Auto MDI/MDI-X: Automatic crossover detection on the TP port simplifies cabling without requiring crossover cables.
  • Link Loss Return (LLR) and Link Loss Carry Forward (LLCF): Immediately alerts network administrators to media link issues on either the copper or fiber side, simplifying network troubleshooting.
  • Store-and-forward switching: Eliminates faulty packets in transit, maintaining clean, reliable data transmission across the converted link.
  • Standalone or chassis-mountable: Operates as a standalone unit powered by a DC adapter, or can slide into a compatible Planet 19" web-smart media converter chassis (MC-1600MR/MC-1610MR series) for centralized management.
