Overview

This is a Johnson Controls MS-NCE2500-0, a Metasys Network Control Engine (NCE) that combines the network supervisor capabilities and IP network connectivity of a Network Automation Engine (NAE) with the I/O point connectivity and direct digital control capabilities of a Field Equipment Controller (FEC). Available in the Europe-only base configuration without a physical field controller trunk connection, it provides 33 integral I/O points plus a Sensor/Actuator (SA) Bus for expanding field point capacity and integrating network sensors — a cost-effective solution for central plants and large built-up air handlers.

Key Features

  • 33 integral I/O points: Combined analog and binary inputs/outputs give direct connectivity to a wide range of field devices without additional expansion hardware.
  • Multi-mode analog inputs: Configurable for 0-10V voltage, 4-20mA current, or resistive mode (0-2k ohm, RTD, or NTC sensor types).
  • High-speed pulse counting: 8 binary inputs support Pulse Counter/Accumulator mode at up to 100Hz, in addition to standard dry contact maintained mode inputs.
  • Configurable outputs: 4 outputs configurable for 0-10V analog voltage or 24VAC triac binary switching; a further 4 configurable for 4-20mA current or 24VAC triac binary output.
  • Sensor/Actuator (SA) Bus: Expands I/O field point capacity and integrates Johnson Controls NS Series network sensors and VFDs.
  • Standard IT-level communication: Web-based user interface with connectivity using commonly accepted IT and open network standards, plus integrated data protection battery for power-failure resilience.

Compatibility & Applications

Part of Johnson Controls's Metasys building management system, this NCE supports network protocol integration including BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, N2 Bus, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, M-Bus, and KNX IP. It's well suited to integrating central plants and large built-up air handlers into a Metasys network, giving supervisory network control alongside direct I/O connectivity in a single unit.
