E-STOP and safety gate monitoring relay with redundant self-monitoring circuit

Overview

This is a Pilz PNOZ X3, a standalone safety relay providing safety-oriented interruption of a safety circuit for E-STOP pushbuttons, safety gate limit switches, and similar protective devices. Built with positive-guided relay outputs and a redundant, self-monitoring circuit design, it ensures the safety function remains effective even in the event of a component failure — with correct opening and closing of the safety contacts automatically tested on every on-off cycle.

Key Features

  • Redundant self-monitoring circuit: Automatically tests correct opening and closing of the safety contacts on every switching cycle, keeping the safety function effective even if a component fails.
  • Flexible input wiring: Supports 1- or 2-channel wiring, with or without detection of shorts across contacts, connecting E-STOP pushbuttons, safety gate limit switches, or start buttons.
  • Positive-guided relay outputs: 3 instantaneous safety contacts (N/O) plus 1 instantaneous auxiliary contact (N/C), along with 1 semiconductor output signaling switch state.
  • Automatic or monitored start-up: Configurable start-up behavior to match the required safety application.
  • LED status indication: Clear LEDs for supply voltage and channel/switch status, simplifying commissioning and diagnostics.
  • Short-circuit-proof supply: Transformer is short-circuit proof, with an electronic fuse used on the DC supply for added protection.
