Overview

This lot is 2 units of the Planet VC-231, a Fast Ethernet-over-VDSL2 converter that extends Ethernet connectivity over existing telephone copper wiring, avoiding the need for new cable runs. Using ITU-T G.993.2 VDSL2 (17A/30A profile) technology, it delivers symmetric 100/100Mbps data rates over 200m or 22/19Mbps over longer runs up to 1.4km, making it a practical solution for extending network access across buildings using existing phone lines.

Key Features

  • High-speed VDSL2 over copper: Symmetric 100/100Mbps at 200m, or 22/19Mbps over long-range 1.4km connections, using standard telephone copper wiring.
  • Long Reach Ethernet (LRE) design: One RJ-45 Ethernet port and one RJ-11 VDSL2 phone jack, compatible with an additional POTS splitter to share the line with existing telephone service.
  • Plug-and-play operation: Works as a standalone unit powered by its DC adapter, or as a slide-in module in a compatible Planet media converter chassis (MC-700/MC-1500/MC-1500R/MC-1500R48).
  • ADSL2+ fallback support: Supports transmission rates up to 24Mbps downstream / 1Mbps upstream where ADSL2+ service is still in use.
  • Diagnostic LEDs: Front-panel LEDs give clear visibility of individual port and overall system status.
  • Auto-Negotiation and Auto-MDI/MDI-X: Simplifies Ethernet cabling on the 10/100Base-TX port without needing crossover cables.
