Overview

This is a Solcon RVS-DX 400-230-S, a digital reduced voltage soft starter rated 170A FLC at 400V mains voltage, with a 230V control supply. Designed for standard three-phase, three-wire, squirrel cage induction motors, it starts the motor by supplying a slowly increasing voltage, providing smooth acceleration while drawing the minimum current necessary to start — reducing mechanical stress and inrush current compared to direct-on-line starting. The RVS-DX includes an internal bypass, controlled by its own micro-controller, which closes automatically once the starting process completes to reduce heating and save power during running operation.

  • 3-phase thyristor-controlled starting: Provides soft start and smooth acceleration by gradually ramping voltage rather than switching directly on-line.
  • Internal by-pass with micro-controller: Automatically closes after the starting process ends, reducing thermal stress and power loss during normal running.
  • Built-in Metal Oxide Varistors (MOV): Protects the thyristors from normal line voltage transients and spikes.
  • Soft stop capability: Configurable deceleration time allows the motor to soft-stop rather than coast or brake abruptly.
  • Multiple protection functions: Includes over-temperature trip (heat-sink above 85°C) and external fault input monitoring for reliable, protected operation.
  • UL and cUL approved: RVS-DX models in the 8-170A range carry UL/cUL certification for North American installations.
