Overview

This is a complete machine vision assembly built around a Teledyne DALSA Linea LA-GM-04K08A-00-R, a 4K monochrome CMOS line scan camera with GigE interface and Teledyne's proprietary TurboDrive technology. The camera is mounted to a custom-machined aluminum baseplate together with an Avago Technologies HEDL-5540-A02 optical encoder for precise motion synchronization and an OWIS rotary stage attached to the front of the lens assembly for fine angular positioning. Together, these components form a ready-to-integrate inspection head suited to high-speed line scan imaging applications that need tight coordination between image capture and object motion.

  • LA-GM-04K08A-00-R — 4K Line Scan Camera: 4096-pixel monochrome CMOS line scan sensor with 7.04 µm pixels, GigE Vision interface, and TurboDrive technology boosting data transfer up to 2–3x faster than standard GigE without loss of image quality.
  • HEDL-5540-A02 — Optical Encoder: A high-performance two/three-channel incremental optical encoder using a lensed LED emitter and integrated detector IC, providing quadrature output signals (and index channel) for accurate rotary position and speed feedback synchronized to the camera.
  • OWIS Rotary Stage: Precision rotary positioning stage mounted at the front of the lens assembly, allowing fine angular adjustment of the optical path for alignment or scanning applications.
  • Integrated cooling and mounting: The camera is fitted with a heat sink for thermal management under continuous operation, all mounted to a custom aluminum baseplate for a rigid, ready-to-install assembly.
  • Multiple ROI and configurable acquisition modes: The camera supports Cycling Mode, configurable GPIO ports, Burst Mode, and per-line metadata, along with multiple regions of interest and calibration coefficient sets for varying lighting conditions.

The Linea GigE camera is GenICam-compliant and integrates with Teledyne DALSA's Sapera LT software platform (including the CamExpert configuration utility) as well as third-party GigE Vision applications. This complete assembly — camera, encoder, and rotary stage on a shared baseplate — is well suited to automated optical inspection, high-speed sorting, materials grading, web inspection, and other line scan imaging applications where the encoder synchronizes image capture to object motion and the rotary stage provides precise optical alignment.
