Overview

This is a PEAK-System PCAN-USB X6, a CAN FD interface for High-Speed USB 2.0 that connects up to 6 independent CAN or CAN FD buses to a single computer through one USB connection. Housed in a rugged aluminum profile casing with D-Sub connectors, it's purpose-built for working with multiple CAN networks simultaneously — the kind of setup used in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test benches for vehicles or in production-line testing of CAN-based products. The included PCAN-View monitoring software and PCAN-Basic programming API mean the device is ready to use straight out of the box for both quick diagnostics and custom application development.

Key Features

  • 6 independent High-Speed CAN channels: Each channel complies with ISO 11898-2 and supports both CAN 2.0 A/B and CAN FD specifications, letting a single device monitor or drive six separate networks at once.
  • High CAN FD data throughput: Supports CAN FD data field bit rates from 25 kbit/s up to 12 Mbit/s (64 data bytes per frame), alongside standard CAN bit rates from 25 kbit/s to 1 Mbit/s.
  • Switchable ISO / Non-ISO CAN FD support: Since the CAN FD standard was later revised into ISO 11898-1, the device supports both the original and revised protocol versions, selectable by software.
  • Per-channel configurable termination: CAN bus termination can be activated individually for each channel through solder jumpers, adapting the device to different bus topologies.
  • USB downstream port: An additional High-Speed USB 2.0 downstream port allows a further USB device to be connected through the interface.
  • Bus diagnostics built in: Measures bus load including error and overload frames, and can generate induced errors for incoming and outgoing CAN messages during testing.
