High-performance controller for brushless DC motors in mobile robots and AGVs
Overview
This is a RoboteQ SBL2360, a medium-current dual-channel controller capable of driving two brushless DC motors up to 60V and 30A per channel. It can operate in either Trapezoidal mode or Sinusoidal mode with Field Oriented Control (FOC), and supports multiple rotor sensor types including Hall sensors, resolvers, sin/cos, and quadrature and SSI encoders — as well as fully sensorless operation in trapezoidal mode. Its two motor channels can run independently or be coordinated together, making it a popular choice for AGVs, warehouse robots, and other mobile robotics and industrial vehicle applications.
Key Features
- Dual-channel brushless motor control: Drives two BLDC motors independently, or joins the two channels to drive a single motor up to 60A combined, with automatic intelligent current limiting per channel.
- Trapezoidal and Sinusoidal FOC modes: Supports both commutation strategies, plus closed- or open-loop speed, position, and torque control modes for the connected motors.
- Extensive I/O: Up to 8 analog, 10 digital, and 6 pulse inputs, plus four 1A digital outputs for lights, valves, brakes, or other accessories — remappable as command or feedback inputs, limit switches, and more.
- Multiple command and networking interfaces: Accepts commands via USB, RC radio, analog joystick, wireless modem, PLC, or microcomputer, with a CAN bus interface supporting up to 127 networked controllers at up to 1 Mbit/s.
- Built-in safety and protection features: Overheat, stall, and short-circuit protection, along with regenerative braking that can recharge the battery during deceleration.
- Scriptable and field-reprogrammable: Operation can be automated and customized using Basic Language scripts, with real-time configuration, monitoring, and tuning through Roboteq's free PC utility.
