Overview

This is an Emotron EMX-R 25S control unit, Version R2, the "size 25" S-model controller from Emotron's EMX-R drive system range for rotary heat exchangers. The EMX-R system pairs this control unit with a matched motor to drive and monitor the rotor of an air handling unit's heat exchanger wheel, controlling speed and confirming that the rotor is actually turning as commanded. The S-model provides core operation-status and alarm indication, and is built for permanent installation as part of an HVAC drive system.

  • Built-in electronic rotation monitor (RotoSens): Confirms rotor rotation using the motor itself as the sensor, so no separate external rotation sensor is required for standard operation.
  • Optional external sensor input: Also supports connection of an external rotation sensor with magnet for applications that call for it, selectable via DIP switch.
  • Automatic purging mode and holding torque: Built-in functions to support cleaning cycles and maintain rotor position when stopped.
  • Integrated EMC filter: Fitted as standard across all EMX-R control units, removing the need for special EMC cable glands or couplings.
  • Electronic motor protection: Continuously monitors the motor and includes built-in overload and short-circuit protection, with an alarm on loss of mains supply.
  • Test switch for commissioning: A built-in TEST switch allows the drive to be run at full speed independent of the control signal, simplifying installation checks.
