Overview

This is a Victron Energy Orion 12/24-20, a non-isolated switchmode DC/DC converter that steps a 12V input up to a stable 24V output at up to 20A continuous. Housed in a finned aluminium enclosure that doubles as a heat sink and paired with a temperature-controlled cooling fan, it's built to hold a steady output under sustained load in vehicle, marine, off-grid, and industrial 24V systems. Beyond straightforward voltage conversion, its adjustable output also lets it function as a battery charger, for example topping up a 12V accessory or starter battery inside an otherwise 24V system.

  • High-efficiency conversion: Delivers approximately 93% conversion efficiency using synchronous rectification, minimizing heat loss and wasted power.
  • Remote ON/OFF control: A dedicated remote on/off terminal removes the need for a high-current switch in the input wiring, and can be operated by a low-power switch or an engine run/stop signal.
  • Adjustable output voltage: Output can be adjusted from 20V to 30V, allowing the unit to be tuned for straight conversion or battery-charging duty.
  • Parallel-capable for higher current: Multiple units can be connected in parallel (up to five) to scale up total output current for larger power demands.
  • Robust high-current terminals: Heavy-duty M6 bolt terminals for input/output wiring, plus a pluggable terminal block for the remote on/off connection.
